Restore your bike!

Posted by admin | Auto News and Reviews | Monday 12 December 2011

Restoring a bike has always been a dream of mine, even though I’m not mechanically inclined to do so whatsoever! But I suppose that doesn’t really matter since I’m totally determined to learn how. I need to know where to get the motorcycle parts and accessories though. I hear that Japanese bikes are pretty easy to fix up, but at the same time the parts can get rather pricey. However my dad did say that he wouldn’t mind chipping in to help me so I’m thinking price won’t be much of an object for this particular project. Another suggestions someone made was to get a nice bmw or Ducati. This however was told to me that parts are also few and far between which essentially bothers me. I know though that I may come across some variation of this problem along the way but for my first project I’d like to keep it as simple as possible.

Since I’ve never restored a bike before, I’m not sure at how much I would be looking for in terms of spending money, or total cost in general. If I were looking at spending the least possible, what would one suggest as to what kind of bike to get. Like I said I’m no mechanic, so I’d be looking at something that is a bit easier in terms of repair and simplicity. I’m pretty set on making sure that I can also purchase all of parts and equipment from one place and keep it rather simple. If anyone has suggestions as to where I could pick up good parts that would be awesome.

Long term though, I am looking at making this a hobby. I would love to see others photos of bikes that they have restored as well as some information on how your own project took place and how it evolved. Did you have any unforeseen issues, or problems with parts and installation? And how long does it take from start to finish if you work on it for a few hours each day? IS this sort of project too hard for someone who doesn’t know much about mechanics? Just how much can one really learn from YouTube?

Keeping Your Car Happy

Posted by admin | Auto News and Reviews | Wednesday 30 November 2011

A car is so much more than a mere possession. For some a car is a right of passage, for others it may be a serious need in order to get to and from work and put food on the table. Regardless of your connection to your car, a car is an investment. It’s a fine piece of machinery that deserves the best of the best when it comes to car parts in order to maintain its fine working condition.

Buying the right car parts is essential for the maintenance of your car. The owner’s manual of a new or used car can be a gateway to knowledge when buying car parts. The manual gives recommendations on which parts are right for your car. The recommendations should not be taken lightly. While in some cases it’s okay to stray away from the manual, it’s often wise to stick to the book. The recommendations are in the owner’s manual for a reason. If a car owner utilizes the parts listed in the manual when it comes time to replace old or broken parts, he or she insures that his or her car will remain in top working condition.

An automobile is a complicated piece of machinery that requires tender love and care. It’s unwise to neglect the needs of a car as it may turn against you. Replacing old, outdated parts regularly is a wise step in the right direction towards maintaining a healthy relationship with your car.
